JAWS Movie Prop Blood from the Original Movie. This is movie prop blood actually used in the scene where Quint (Robert Shaw) is getting eaten by Jaws a. This history behind this piece, it all started when my father was asked to play a very important part in the movie they wanted him to provide blood for a couple of scenes, well let me start back further than that. You see my Dad was in college at the time trying to get a degree in special effects, he had a roommate who knew Robert A. Mattey the guy who did the special effects for the movie Jaws, so he was asked to be the bloodmaker in the next movie that was about a giant shark that eats people, so of course he took the offer.
They flew him out to Marthas Vinyard, where he ran outta blood for the movie because of the final scene so he had to walk all around town and find red dye and clear corn syrup. He was finally able to find just enough for the scene where Jaws ate Quint, for the prop to work there were two pneumatic pumps inside of the giant sharks mouth they looked like two big insect sprayers (you know the ones that you pump), you can see the if you have the special collectors edition of Jaws where they showed the making of the shark. Anyways the pumps could hold about two and a half gallons of fake blood and he had re-fill them after each scene, so after about three scenes they finally had the scenes that they wanted. So at the end of the day he was told to clean out the pumps, and there was about a gallon of blood left inside the pumps, so he gave some to the crew and saves the rest for himself.
My father then put the rest of the blood inside his travel bag and flew back to California, he had my grandfather put it inside the bank vault. My father is retired from Universal Studios where he also did special effects and he's asking me to sell this for him.The bottle of blood is 8 inches high by 4 inches wide, there is exactly 2 inches of fake blood in the bottle. The blood has coagulated a little over the years and also might be a little darker due to age. Also, I wouldn't recommend using this 28 year old blood for any purpose but a prize piece for your collection. Because of several inquiries from watchers of this lot, I have scanned a copy of the original lot description from over 15 years ago, plus the original Post Office receipt I sent to the son of the owner/maker of the blood for the Jaws scene. In that time we have accumulated over 37,000 positive feedbacks.
We are dedicated to making you, the customer, happy. Please be sure to make lot inquires at least two days before a lot closes.
