One of the most iconic and sought after devices in TV show history: Quinn Mallory's'Original Timing Device'. The'Motorola Micro TAC Ultra Lite' which was released briefly in the 1990s. Motorola released several different versions during the time such as the'Motorola MicroTAC 550' and the'Motorola Micro TAC Lite' which most timer replicas are made from, but this particular model is the exact match of the actual timer.

These models are extremely hard to find these days and tend to sell in the hundreds. The timer has fully functional electronics and behaves and acts exactly like it did on the show. There is a miniature switch neatly routed to the side of the timer just like the original prop. When its turned on, the timer will simulate the full'GENSER' diagnostic boot up sequence exactly the way it did in the 2 part pilot episode. The controls are as follows.

Firstly -'Name Menu' button - Pressing once will program the timer to count down. Or pressing again will set the timer to count up.

IF TIMER IS SET TO COUNT DOWN. Pressing the FCN button will highlight the first digit of the'hours mins secs' readout.

Pressing again highlights the second and pressing again highlights the third and so fourth. Pressing'Name Menu' again will now enable the user to enter a numerical value to each digit.

After a time is set, pressing FCN again will set the timer for counting. Next press the'GHI 4' button which will begin the countdown. When the countdown reaches 10 seconds the timer will behave exactly the same way as in the Pilot episode when Quinn was about to depart the first parallel world after 15 minutes. (with the traffic lights, red is go, green is stop etc). GENSER chase effect, flashy lights, diagnostics, warning beeps getting faster and faster until 00:00:00 in which the colons between the digits will merge and glow red and the prism at the top will ignite a bright white signifying the wormhole opening.

The user can also activate the wormhole early by pressing'1' button. Only recommended in the event of a serious emergency (snow earth).

After wormhole is activated the timer will simulate going haywire and begin to count down randomly. IF TIMER IS SET TO COUNT UP. Pressing'FCN' will display 15:00.

Next press'GHI 4' to activate the wormhole. The prism on the top will glow orange just like in the pilot.

The timer will then begin to count up until it gets to 14:50 seconds and will do the same routine as before. (warning beaps, faster faster, GENSER etc) upon zero the prism on the top ignites orange and colons bright red etc. The user can press'1' just like before to activate wormhole early etc. The timer also has a nifty power saving feature. Pressing GHI 4 during a countdown turns off the TAU DELTA ZETA lights and will stop the green bargraph LEDs chasing effect.

Instead it will only light up the top and bottom two LEDs. Pressing GHI 4 again turns of the HRS MINS SECS display (although the timer will still be counting). Pressing GHI 4 one last time brings all displays back to normal.

The timer is completely hand made using correctly sourced high quality components. The shiny covering was designed using Corel Draw and then sent to a professional screen printing company to produce. The timer is powered by 4x 1.5 volt battery's which are hidden in a holder inside the back of the timer.

There are 4 brand new Duracell batteries included. They will probably nearly last for ever. The timer surprisingly doesn't use a lot of power.
